Making the Desk

Things are buzzing at our Portland, OR heaquarters—step into our workshop and behind the scenes to see our small team hard at work.

A Journey of Many Steps

The desk balances minimalism with complexity. The visual is simplified—a single seamless drawer front that nestles into the desk frame, a single cord to the outlet, an effective cord management system—but this requires a robust functional network of elements all working together. To build something like that requires many steps, from machining wood elements, to assembling the drawer, and testing all the components. It's a workshop orchestra.

Every element and function is aligned and has to be totally coordinated.

Obsessions

For us, the desk is a piece of performance equipment—to help you get to another level with your work. The technical features of the drawer, the power panel, and how it all comes together requires fine-tuned workmanship and careful quality control.

Making sure everything is just right—from the drawer glides, to the finish quality—takes the whole team working together.
