Since Grovemade is based out of Portland, OR, our customers are not required to pay sales tax on their Grovemade products.
For states that do have sales tax: The current default rule throughout the United States is that you must collect sales tax on Internet sales to customers in those states where your business has a “physical presence”—assuming, of course, that the state involved has a sales tax. The physical-presence rule is based on a 1992 United States Supreme Court decision, Quill Corp. v. North Dakota, that addressed the obligations of mail-order businesses to collect sales tax on out-of-state sales; the decision has been extended to include online retailers. Generally speaking, a physical presence means such things as: having a warehouse in the state having a store in the state having an office in the state, or having a sales representative in the state. If you do not have a physical presence in the state, you generally are not required to collect sales tax for an Internet-based sale to someone in that state. Currently we sell directly to customers through our website and we don't have any retail or reseller partnerships. But if you're in Portland, we would love to invite you to our shop, where you’re able to purchase items if they’re in stock! Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can arrange a time for you to come in and meet the team.
All wood cases, ours included, may not be the best choice for people prone to dropping their phones. Grovemade cases are not 100% drop proof. The case may not survive an impact. This is typical of many cases made from natural materials or hard plastics. If you are worried about dropping your phone, we suggest cases made of silicone or rubber, such as Otterbox. That being said, we’ve engineered our cases to be as durable as possible. Although, we can’t guarantee the case against drops, it is possible for it to survive many standard drops, along with some gentle wear-and-tear. In the event that your case breaks from a drop, we offer a case replacement program. For any manufacturing defects, your new case is covered under our standard warranty from the date that the case is shipped.
Yes, any type of front screen protector (covering only the screen of the phone) will not interfere with the case. However due to the tight fit of our case, any screen protectors which wrap around the sides or back of the phone are not compatible.
Our cases are finished with a vegetable-based oil in lieu of a harsh varnish or sealant, allowing the depth of its character to change over time through use and handling. The leather found in our wood and leather cases has been minimally treated with vegetable-based tannins. With use, it will develop a distinguished patina.
Use a damp rag to rub the case clean, then dab it dry with a clean cloth. If needed, use a diluted solution of water and mild dish soap on a rag and wipe dry. This is not a necessary step, but if you would like to re-oil the case, you can use boiled linseed oil.
Though the opening around the lens and flash of our case has been sized to compensate for the use of the flash setting, there may be residual light bounce back. This is especially so when the flash setting is used in the dark and with subjects at a distance farther than a few feet away from the lens. However, in most circumstances, the distortion, if any, is quite minimal.
The Grovemade case supports the charging cable that is supplied by Apple for your iPhone model only. We are not able to verify all third party connectors.
The Grovemade Dock will work with our cases.
Warning: Forcing a charger that is too large into the case will break it. Please be careful. Many chargers look nearly identical. Older iPhone/iPad chargers may look the same but might be too large for the case.
The backplate is attached with a peel-and-stick adhesive which is designed to be single use. It is removable and will not damage your phone or leave behind a permanent residue. Any residue left can be removed using rubbing alcohol. The backplate may be removed and repositioned when first applying, but this product is not intended to be taken on and off like a case.
Since each product is made from different pieces of wood we can't guarantee that they will match. If they are ordered together, there’s a greater likelihood that the batch of wood will be the same for each, and the color and grain will be more similar.
Yes, they are. Included with our system is a 3.5mm headphone jack that works with computers, phones, and tablets. With 3rd-party cables and a preamp the Grovemade speaker system will work with turntables, CD players, tape players, and just about any audio source.
Most record players require a 3rd-party phono preamp to connect to the Grovemade speaker system. You would first connect the turntable to the preamp’s input, then the preamp’s output to the Grovemade system’s input.
Our system is powered by a standard AC power plug. The input range of the power source is from 100-240 volts. The only adapter you will need is the simple, inexpensive type that converts the shape of the US plug to your country’s standard outlet.
The dock is designed to amplify the sound coming out of the iPhone's speakers. A hidden channel directs ringtones and other audio freely through the front of the dock. You will hear an increase in volume with your phone docked.
The dock is designed to be compatible with all Grovemade cases and bumpers with the exception of the wallet case. Cases vary by manufacturer and may or may not be compatible with our dock. The more minimal in profile your case, the more likely it will fit our dock.
The dock incorporates the lightning cable included with your iPhone to charge your device - the lightning cable is woven through the base of the dock, which your phone then plugs into. Please note that dock purchases do not include a lightning cable. The Grovemade dock was not intended for third party lightning cables.
Based on the classic Higonokami knife, the Grovemade knives are friction folders, meaning there is no locking mechanism. This style of knife uses friction and pressure from the your thumb on the back of the blade to prevent the knife from closing during use.
Our knife is intended for light duty applications that an average person encounters everyday, such as opening packages, cutting string, and occasionally slicing food. If you need something to go hunting with, you’ll need a different knife!
Our knives were engineered in such a way as to not require regular maintenance. If the pivot starts feeling gritty after a few years, some light lubrication around the pivot will refresh the action. To clean the handle, simply use a damp rag to wipe off the wood and metal, then wipe dry. To clean the blade, wash with water and soap, making sure to dry it off completely before closing.
As some locations may have more restrictive laws with regards to the shipment of knives (defined as sharp-pointed or sharp-edged instruments), it is your responsibility to know and follow those laws. By placing an order with us you are agreeing that you have read our terms and that you accept legal responsibility for owning the item you have ordered in the jurisdiction to which we deliver it. If you have a specific concern about your shipping destination, please send us an email at email@example.com.
The outer hand represents the hour and the shorter hand represents minutes. The timepiece moves just like a traditional analog watch, the difference being you glance at the positioning of the circular hands through the windows and infer the approximate time. It takes about a day to get used to it and then you can tell the time to about 2 or 3 minutes precision. You can see the animation on our landing page to see how it works.
The watch module can withstand water up to 1ATM however due to the wood components, we do not recommend subjecting your watch to water or excessive moisture. You can leave it on for normal activities like hand washing but it would be a good idea to wipe it dry if you get water on the wood.
The battery life on our watch is the standard 2-3 years for a lithium battery. The battery can be easily replaced by the consumer through the battery hatch on the back of the watch, using any coin that may be hiding under your couch cushions! Or you can take it to your local watch shop. For any repair or replacement requests, please use the Warranty Form.
